Drop their Proof Ball next to your catch, take one photo, and their AI returns verified length, girth, and weight in seconds. RiseCast carries those numbers into your journal untouched, where they lock.
The Proof Ball is the part that makes it hold up. A known-size object in the frame gives the AI something real to measure against, so the number is derived rather than guessed. It also means no tape measure and no hanging a fish from a scale, which is the same reason we cap scores in warm water: the less time a trout spends out of the river, the better.
A verified number means nothing alone. It means everything the moment someone might doubt you.

Do I need a Proof Ball to use RiseCast?
No. Every RiseCast feature works without one, and you can log catches by hand forever. The Proof Ball adds a verified badge to the measurement, which matters when a number is going to be compared against someone else's.
What happens to catches I logged by hand?
Nothing. They stay in your journal and appear in your circles carrying an Estimate badge rather than a Verified one. Both are valid entries and both are shown. Hiding unverified catches would make the feed a worse record of your season.
Does verification share my location?
No. A verified catch carries a measurement, not a place. Spot privacy is enforced in the database and verification does not touch it.
Can I run a tournament on this?
That is the point of it. A circle sets its own rules when it is created: verified catches only, or open to everything. Length based and catch and release native, so there is no weigh-in and no livewell.
When does it ship?
No date. RiseCast already reads the export format, but a signed end to end path depends on work on Fishtechy's side as well as ours. We would rather say that than invent a quarter.
